How to display the jobQuest plugin features

Creating the Job Listings Page

  1. In the WordPress administration area, add a new page via the ‘Pages’ dropdown menu on the left sidebar.
  2. Give the new Job Listings page a descriptive page title such as ‘Jobs’. This title will automatically become the slug that is used to display the job listings page. For example; www.yourwebsite/jobs/
  3. Add the Job Listings shortcode to your .php file or page. For instructions, please refer to the next section: Implementing the Shortcodes

Creating the Manage Account Page

  1. In the WordPress administration area, add a new page via the ‘Pages’ dropdown menu on the left sidebar.
  2. Give the new Manage Account page a descriptive page title such as ‘Manage Account’. This title will automatically become the slug that is used to display the job listings page. For example; www.yourwebsite/manage-account/
  3. Add the Manage Account shortcode to your .php file or page. For instructions, please refer to the next section: Implementing the Shortcodes

Implementing the Shortcodes

To display the various sections of jobQuest across your site, you will need to add shortcodes to your .php files. Each shortcode refers to a different section or element of the jobQuest plugin. Please see The jobQuest Shortcodes for a list of all available plugin sections and their shortcodes.

Alternative Method

You can alternatively add the shortcodes to a page directly via the WordPress administration ‘Pages’ area, within the text area of the required page. This method is less favourable than adding the shortcode via the .php files as there is a greater risk of the shortcode accidentally being removed. If you are adding the shortcode using this method you will only need to add the shortcode contained within the brackets eg: [viralbamboo-recruiter-account-manager].

The jobQuest Shortcodes

To display each section of the plugin you will need to place the appropriate shortcode in your code or on the page via the WordPress Administration area.

The following php snippet is an example of how to implement the shortcode in your .php files.

Example:

<?php echo do_shortcode("[jobquest-search-box]"); ?>

Note: If you choose to add your shortcode via the WordPress Administration area, you will not need the php snippet – the shortcode will work on its own.

Feature Shortcode
Job Search Tool [jobquest-search-box]
Latest Listings [jobquest-latest-listings]
Category List [jobquest-category-list]
Account Manager [jobquest-account-manager]
Job Listings Page [jobquest-index]

Theme customization

By using minimal amount of styling and offering color customisations, the plugin will try its best to blend in with your current theme.

Custom CSS support is on our road map and will be supported very soon – in the mean time, you can include your own CSS pretty much anywhere on your site to override the styles if it’s necessary.

To customise your plugin, head over to your admin dashboard and open Jobs > Settings. The plugin uses three colors – mainly the primary, foreground and background color. Select suitable colors with the HSL sliders to blend the plugin into your theme.
